Any worse and it would be a scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Purchased a never used scratch and dent refrigerator that came with a "1 year warranty". I used the term never used because later on CPS claims that since it was a scratch and dent they are not considered new.

After five months the fridge stopped cooling. After submitting a claim with CPS they took over three weeks to actually send a local technician to see about the problem. I also had to pay a $100 deductible prior to it being evaluated. The repair company basically said the repair bill would be more than the value of the fridge (I paid $1,200 at purchase) to fix.

So when adding the $100 deductible I now had $1,300 in this fridge. During week four with a broken fridge the company said they would settle with me for $700 and nothing more. I tried to deny the payout and speak with a level higher but they were rude and said they will always pro-rate any payout like that (which does not include the deductible) and there was nothing else they would do.

So keep in mind if your covered item breaks on month 11 of your "warranty" they will only give you 10-12% of it's value. Stay far away from this company.

Warranty Not Honored for Refrigerator

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Contains 2 confidential files for company representatives

On August 12, 2022, I purchased an extended warranty for a Summit refrigerator from Consumer Priority Services (CPS). This was part of a larger purchase with a retailer, Appliances Connections, that has since gone out of business. Attached is the invoice confirming the purchase of the refrigerator and CPS warranty. The refrigerator is two years old and is failing. It is consistently making a loud knocking sound. According to refrigerator repair experts, this is a major issue. Since the retailer was out of business, I contacted Summit's refrigerator manufacturer for warranty information, including CPS contact information and the unit's invoice. I filed a claim with CPS. Attached is a confirmation that the claim was filed for a Summit Refigerator. CPS has consistently denied my claim for one reason or another. Most recently, it was because the wrong invoice was sent. Therefore, I sent them the correct invoice for the Summit refrigerator I purchased. Although the invoice clearly shows the extended warranty information with CPS, they denied my claim again. According to CPS, the Summit refrigerator is not covered by the warranty. I have attached documentation proving that the original claim was for a Summit Refrigerator, and that an incorrect invoice was initially sent, followed by the correct one. In conclusion, this has been a deeply unpleasant experience that should have been easily avoided, and its resolution could have been easily reached.

My point of contact has been the Call Center Manager, Nathan, who refused to give me his last name. Working with this individual has been a nightmare and I feel completely violated as a result. His demeanor has been confrontational, aggressive, condescending, overly militaristic, and dismissive. He has a habit of talking in circles and convoluting information. For instance, he declined my claim because my appliance was a Summit, and the receipt was for a Blomberg - the wrong receipt was originally submitted. I then sent him the correct Summit receipt and he denied the claim because my warranty was allegedly for a Blomberg, not a Summit. This sadly occurred despite the invoice clearly showing a Summit appliance and the purchase of an extended warranty with CPS. Consequently, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for assistance in resolving this issue.

Sincerely,

Annabella

CPS - Highly questionable company, rude, and unhelpful
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

A 3 year warranty on my Nikon d780 did nothing. The company refused to honor the warranty because they claim customer damage even though I have taken excellent care of my camera.

They sent a photo of a nick in the plastic near where the lens attaches next to the camera body screw which appears to have been over screwed in which is not something I ever even touched. I have no idea how the mark got there but it wasnt on my watch. They refused to offer any repair of the back focusing issue of the camera and unofficially quoted around $750 to have them fix it. They were rude about coverage denial and I question if they put the mark there to deny the claim and how many warranties are actually honored.

I spent close to $80 to ship to them with insurance and an additional $40 in advance for them to ship it back. I declined their $750 offered repairs and requested they send it back. I will go directly to a trustworthy repair shop.

Beware. What a scam.

They do not honor appliance warranty

They refused to honor my appliance warranty. They made up a reason that was in the terms and conditions I agreed to at purchase. Then they tried to close my online account.

Run as far away from this company as you possibly can.

Refused to honor covered item

I submitted a claim with CPS to repair a broken ice maker and ice maker tray from a Samsung refrigerator. CPS claimed the failure was due to operator error and would not cover 'after-market parts'.

I attempted unsuccessfully to explain that the ice maker is totally inoperable.

In addition, the ice tray is not an aftermarket part as it was included with the refrigerator. To no avail, they closed my claim with no further communication.

It took 5 calls to get them to contact someone to come out. The company who came out was fine.

At least we weren't turned down for our claim. The best thing is it is only $50 to purchase the warranty but they should cover what is broken That's their job.

Resolved: Did not honor their warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Sep 12, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. After many phone calls, emails, contacting the BBB, and citing some legal precedents, the company finally agreed to honor their "repair or replace" warranty and sent me a check for the purchase price of my covered washing machine.

Original review Aug 13, 2024

I received a warranty with the new washer I purchased for close to $600. I opened a claim in May 2024 for repairs.

After paying a $99 deductible and waiting 2 months, dealing with many phone calls, and several service calls, CPS said the washer was not repairable. Their warranty clearly states 'repair or replace'. They sent me a final settlement offer of $160. I questioned how I could replace a $600 washer for $160.

A claims supervisor, who said his name was Larry Kay, told me he doesn't shop for washers. Another supervisor told me the reason for the low amount was because their terms and conditions had changed. This was on 8/3/2024.

I requested those new terms and conditions in writing and was promised they would be emailed to me. As of 8/13, I have received nothing.

Preferred solution: I would like Consumer Priority Service to repair or replace my washing machine per their terms and conditions. Or make a settlement equal to my purchase price.

Failed to provide payment for settlement of warrenty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Do not trust this company for your warranty on any appliance. They will refuse to pay for repairs if you file a claim, then offer you a settlement payment.

Then, you will wait. If you call to inquire about the status of your settlement payment, you will be stonewalled. I have been waiting for my payment since 9/09/23. The staff states they will 'expedite the payment', but they do not offer a timeline or update on why or when your payment will arrive.

All this after you pay a $99.00 charge to file the claim in the first place. FRAUD.

Great Refrigerator Warranty

I've had a CPS warranty on my refrigerator for over a year now, and it's been a great experience. When my fridge unexpectedly broke down, CPS made the entire repair process so much easier.

Filing a claim was simple, and their customer service team was responsive and helpful. They quickly arranged for a technician, and the repair was fully covered, including parts and labor.

Having this warranty gave me peace of mind knowing I wouldn't be hit with a huge repair bill. I highly recommend Consumer Priority Service if you're looking for reliable coverage and excellent support.

We purchased coverage for all our kitchen appliances when we moved into a new home. It didn't take long for one of them to malfunction.

We were glad we were covered by CPS.

Just a quick call and everything was taken care of. If I had to pay the full price of this repair out of pocket, it would be very costly.

Scam Artist

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had purchased a 5 year extended warranty from appliance connection, and they went bank rupt, now the warranty people CPS tell me over and over that my warranty is expiring, since I forgot how many years I purchased I bought a new "3 YEAR"!! I then logged into my account and see that I did purchase a 5 year, but they now added a 149 deductible on that, and the 3 year I just purchased ends in 1 year???

They told me because the seller of the 5 year went out of business they now have to add a deductible??

And that the 3 year I just bought ends in one year because it was from the purchase date 2 years ago?? Total scam artist!!

Will not honor warranty

Subscribed to an extended warranty from their services. They suggested I purchased the warranty because the appliance manufacturer went bankrupt and said that they would be able to help if anything arose.

Tough luck, a few weeks later, the appliance ceased to work.

Did they honor their warranty? No.
