Didn’t honor warranty and won’t provide reason in writing

Terrible experience. We had a camera that stopped working and CPS told us verbally they wouldnt honor it.

We then were turning to Amex, who needed something in writing from CPS. CPS refused, saying their reason was an internal matter.

Have spent thousands of dollars on warranties with this company. The one and only time I needed a warranty service they put me in touch with a terrible company.

This business may be good but they need better contractors.

After being blown off 3 times I wound up calling someone else and paying for repairs myself on top of the the warranty I purchased from them. I would not recommend this company if this is the type of contractors they have!

DOES NOT HONOR WARRANTY!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
CPS - DOES NOT HONOR WARRANTY!!

I am going on 4 months without a working fridge. The first 2 months or so months took a while between repair appointments, etc.

It has been deemed unrepairable. I got a lowball settlement offer of $889 for a fridge that now costs over $3k. I declined their offer as the warranty states a replacement would be granted if appliance could not be repaired. I am getting the major run around and no one calls me back.

I am thinking about small claims court at this point. Has anyone experienced this situation that can guide me through it? I would be forever grateful.

I refuse to go away that easily CPS! What a disgraceful, dishonest company!

Pros:
  • Did schedule repair appointments and approved fixes
Cons:
  • Does not respond
  • Did not stand by their warranty replacement

Preferred solution: A replacement of my fridge or refund of what it costs today.

Worst experience

Take the money and run outfit. I bought a water proof drone that turned out not to be water proof.

After retrieving it from the depths I took the bottom cover off the drone to empty the water out before shipping. They declared that to be tampering and voided the warranty altogether. I explained I owned the item and should be able to make the item less hazardous before shipping. They seized the moment to just walk away from it altogether.

Stay away. Stay away. Do not buy anything from them. If they have your item for repair they will record your call with them as they ask you baited questions and then dump you when they secure an answer that fits them.

Stay away and dont buy products that are attached to CPS. Just go elsewhere.

Resolved: We paid $145.49 for a microwave warranty that has not been honored after months of haggling.

Updated by user Mar 07, 2022

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. It took months and some threats as well as help from the Better Business Bureau, but we finally got reimbursed for our microwave..

Original review Feb 04, 2022

The warranties offered by Consumer Priority Service (CPS) are a scam. I strongly recommend that you don't buy them.

In 2018, we bought a 5-year warranty on a Samsung microwave, which cost $463.33, from Build.com. In 2021, it stopped working. First, CPS offered to put us in touch with a repair company. It turns out the company didn't service the area where we live, so they put us in touch with another repair company.

Same problem. Finally, they told us to find our own repair company, which we did. A team of technicians made three different visits to our house, tried some new parts, and ultimately said the machine couldn't be repaired. We asked CPS to pay us enough money to replace the machine, which their policy clearly states they do if the machine cannot be repaired.

They spent another few weeks asking us and the technicians for additional paperwork. They refunded the $79 diagnostic fee, and then they offered to pay $200 for the microwave, which cost $463.33 in 2018 and probably costs a lot more right now in 2022. After I complained about this, Eric Feliciano, the CPS manager of claims and customer experience, offered to call me to discuss the problem at 11:15am EST today. It's now 12:15pm, and I'm still waiting for Eric's call.

I've left him three voice-mail messages.

Don't buy a warranty from this company. They are a total pain to deal with, and they will not honor your warranty.

I am going through a very similar situation with my fridge that was deemed unrepairable. They offered me a fraction of what it costs today.

I want the replacement like their documention states or I would even take a cheaper fridge as long as I agreed on it.

Please share how you got this resolved. I am sick of the run around and all the waiting.

I paid for warranty service for the dryer. I realize that it is hard to find people to answer the phone and report.

I did not care and was very patient. The horrible part is that the service does not cover diagnostic evaluations. CPS asked for $150 to make diagnostic.

They did not disclose this information when i paid for the warranty.

CPS is a Total Scam - Refused to Honor Their Own Terms

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After spending $1,700 on the initial unit, an extended warranty, multiple repairmen visits and two magnetrons, the electronic components inside of our 14-month-old Bosch microwave severely overheated, charring/melting the units internal electrical components and ultimately catching fire. The microwave was declared inoperable and unrepairable

Our extended warranty is the 3-Year Major Appliance Standard Coverage warranty from CPS Central (also called Consumer Priority Service).

We multiple attempts, CPS Central has denied our claim even though we meet every requirement of the Standard Coverage warranty. They use deceptive practices and are dishonorable in their efforts to avoid paying legitimate claims.

The facts:CPS claims to cover defects in materials and workmanship = Microwaves material (the magnetron) malfunctioned twice CPS claims to cover issues that occur under normal use = Microwave malfunctioned twice under normal use, while warming food in glass containersCPS will not cover damage from external causes like accident, loss, theft, fire, flood, blown fuses, inadequate electrical power, fan failure, water and gas lines beyond the equipment, plugged drains = None of these occurredCPS claims if a device cannot be repaired, CPS will either replace the item or send you a check for the current market value of a replacement = A manufacturer certified repair company declared the unit inoperable and unrepairable

CPS Central said they do not cover repair of damage or food loss caused by accident, loss, theft, fire, flood, external causes such as, but not limited to, blown fuses, inadequate electrical power,

fan failure, water and gas lines beyond the equipment, plugged drains, or any use of the product not authorized by the manufacturer.

The microwave was not damaged by external factors. It was not damaged by an external fire, blown fuse, electrical issue or any similar external cause. The microwave malfunctioned.

A component within the unit severely overheated, charring/melting the units internal electrical components and ultimately catching fire.

The company uses deceptive practices to avoid paying claims, to trick consumers into purchasing warranties they refuse to honor, and generally gives customers the run-around in an effort to skirt their business obligations.

We have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General, multiple consumer watch agencies and are filing a small claims lawsuit.

Please learn from our mistake and do not use this company. You will regret it!

I am having a similar experience with cps and would like to file a small claims against them. Any tips on starting a claim against them?

Same runaround. I called small claims courts in the county where I live and the county where I purchased the appliances.

I was told by both to file the small claim in Brooklyn where CPS is located. That is what I will do right now online.

I suggest everyone else to do the same. They should be put out of business by New York State.

Failed to honor warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was unfortunate enough to have bought an extended warranty through this company. I thought I was in good hands based on previous reviews I was wrong.

In July my freezer broke I called in a claim and was assured that a GE service representative would set an appointment within 24 hours. I did get an appointment two weeks later on July 25th. I was ok with waiting. The GE service man, Kevin was very nice he told me that the repairs would be about $1200 I said "thank God I have a warranty service".

He then went on to inform me that this call "was put in as a cash call" He informed me to call the company back (CPS) and tell them to put it in as a warranty call. I did. I got a call from Nathan Zalta, he was very nice and told me that that the GE repairman should never have asked me for money for the call. I explained the mix up that CPS placed it in as a cash call not a warranty call.

He said he understood and was sorry for the length of time it was taking to repair my freezer. A week later I called him and he said he was waiting for GE to give him a parts list. I said ok. On 8/15 I spoke with Nathan again and he informed me that I was "not to worry he would take care of it" He was still waiting for GE to give him the parts list.

I called Nathan again on August 28th to get the status of the supposed parts order. I left a message. On August 29th Nathan called me back and informed me that it was all my fault for cancelling the appointment on July 25th, I explained to him AGAIN that I DID NOT cancel the appointment and that the appointment was kept it was just that the repairman said it was a cash call. I also asked him why we were going over this again when he had already told me he was waiting for a parts list.

He had the audacity to tell me that GE don't lie and they said I cancelled. I need my freezer fixed, why would I lie? And to call into question my moral character? I am a therapist and take my character seriously.

I asked Nathan if I could speak with his boss because it was apparent something is very wrong. He informed me "that he is the boss of CPS there is no one higher then him except the board members and they don't talk to customers" I was appalled, I hung figuring I need a lawyer. I called GE and spoke with them and they are willing to provide me with proof that it was put in as a cash call and it was CPS mistake. I am so frustrated with this company, I have been getting the run around.

I will be filing a report with the better business bureau and hopefully they will be able to help. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Doing the same thing to me with my $2000+ Dell XPS laptop. It is so exhausting dealing with this nonsense after spending an extra $200 for protection that they are seemingly determined NOT to Honor.

From the Very start, they look for Any and EVERY reason to deny your Claim. Just one hurdle after another with this company and several months wasted having to constantly try to get them to honor they're commitments stated in their extended warranty service contract I paid for.

It takes 10+ days just to ship the laptop each way with their UPS ground shipping service. Ridiculous!

Loise Hun

They are doing the same to us with regard to our refrigerator. We should all get together and start a class action lawsuit against CPS. They are a scam service.

Consumer priority service reached out to rectify the situation. They are standing by their warranty and offered an extended warranty for free.

There apparently was a miscommunication, Eric was understanding and resolved the issue immediately.

Consumer Priority Service definitely cares about their customers feelings! I am impressed!!

obviously a review posted by CPS employee. They're location is the same as CPS HQ.

It doesn't site any specifics re: the product covered, reason for claim or the claim process or procedures experienced etc. It is a Copy & paste review just like the vast majority of they're "Positive Reviews" posted online. They do a good job of online reputation mgmt.

but if you search community forums and official sites online that verify identity & validate experiences reported by legit consumers, it's easy to see that virtually all customer experiences re: claims processing are Extremely Negative. Company is very deceptive, dishonest and definitely NOT Consumer Friendly at all!
